The enclosed articles in this issue span functional urology, uro-oncology, robotic surgery, urothiasis, andrology, and pediatric urology. It is interesting that none of the authors are from Taiwan, even though urological science is an official journal of Taiwan Urological Association. We believed that the Journal is on the way of more international.
Teoh et al. presented a critical review on the key steps in performing robotic-assisted radical cystectomy with intracorporeal urinary diversion. Siregar et al. reviewed available treatment modalities and recommendations with regard to the conservative management for vesicoureteral reflux. Furthermore, Attawettayanon et al. reported the biphasic change in renal function with improvement in 1 month after radical cystectomy and urinary diversion then resumed to the preoperative level.
Hany et al. assessed the serum expression levels of microRNA-210 (miR-210) and miR-23b as potential biomarkers for bladder cancer patients.
Consequently, Hoai et al. evaluated the parameters that can predict the success or failure of trial without catheter for acute urinary retention due to benign prostatic hyperplasia. Roy et al. compared extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy versus mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy for the treatment of nonlower calyceal 10–20 mm size kidney stone. In addition, Rujinithiwat et al. reported that early vacuum erectile device usage for penile rehabilitation following radical prostatectomy significantly improves IIEF-5 score and better preserves penile circumference but not penile length. Piplani et al. presented an unusual case of mixed epithelial and stromal tumor of ureter posing diagnostic dilemma.
